Sonoma Conservatory of Dance presents: The Snow Maiden

Dec. 8th & 9th, 1:00pm

The Sebastiani Theatre is pleased to welcome the Sonoma Conservatory of Dance for two stellar matinee performances of THE SNOW MAIDEN, a Russian Wonder Tale of Love and Magic on Saturday and Sunday, December 8 & 9, at 1:00 p.m.  This will be the third annual joint fundraiser to help the Sebastiani Theatre to continue to offer the community a wide range of movie, musical, and theater experiences for all ages.

Choreographed by  Brooke  Byrne of San Francisco’s Khadra International Dance Theatre, the ballet incorporates elements of Russian character dance and ethnic-inspired costumes.  The classic folktale is Russia’s equivalent to THE NUTCRACKER and is full of winter-themed characters such as The Frost Fairy, The Ice Princess, The Four Winds and, of course, The Snow Maiden herself.  Bring the whole family for a fantasy afternoon of dance that will enliven the holiday spirit throughout our beautiful Valley of the Moon and beyond!

Special guest artist Evan Johnston of Coterie Dance Company performs as Lel, the shepherd boy who falls in love with the ethereal Snow Maiden, played by Sonoma's own Natalie Anderson. Evan and Natalie are joined by dozens of dancers from the Conservatory's elementary through advanced levels, including Elizabeth Eagles as the Frost Fairy;  Angelica Griggs-Demmin as the Ice Princess; Olivia Cole, Isabel Falls, Natalie Palmgren, and Siobhan O'Reilly as the Four Winds; Emma Phelps as the Snow Queen, and Anika Ljung as the Firebird. Adorable Icicles, fierce Snow Guards, and the other magical characters of in the Land of Snow will delight and enchant audiences of all ages.
